Ms. Phyllis Bergen-Jackson, Corresponding Secretary

 

Ms. Phyllis Bergen-Jackson is assigned to the U. S. Army Medical Department Center and School were she serves as a Training Technician for the Army Training Requirements and Resources System and the Army Learning Management System. She is responsible for development of course schedules; compiles courses and training seats data; and to project the number of students to report for the course.

Ms. Bergen serves with collateral duty on the Black Employment Program Special Emphasis Committee and is certified as a Course Manager for the Department of the Army Supervisor and Employee Course in the Prevention of Sexual Harassment. Ms. Bergen has volunteered her services in the community and has served as a Fort Sam Houston Mentor for the past 15 years.

 

   
Treasurer

Luther Sweeney, a retired member of the United States Air Force, is the Chief, Planning and Programming Division, Directorate of Programs and Resources, Joint Information Operations Warfare Command (JIOWC), Lackland AFB, Texas.  In this capacity, he is the senior analyst responsible for the organization’s Department of Defense (DOD) Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution System and also functions as the Command’s Civilian Personnel Liaison, responsible for planning, administering, and monitoring civilian personnel resource programs and requirements.

A “life” member of Blacks in Government, Luther serves as Chapter treasurer. He holds a BS degree in Social Psychology (Park University) and a Masters Degree in Management and Human Resources (Webster University).

   
Joanne C. Johnson, Asst Treasurer  

Joanne C. Johnson is a retired Civil Service employee, from Lackland AFB, TX, where she served as a Family Support Tech. and Chief of Programs, Family Support Center. 

She has been a member of SA-BIG for over 25 years.  After holding numerous offices and chairing committees, she was elected as President for two consecutive terms. 2001-2003. Chosen to serve as chairman for two previous Region VI Conferences held in San Antonio.  
Previously elected and served as President, region VI, which covers Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, New Mexico and Texas.  Additionally, Ms. Johnson served as a national member of the Board of Directors for Blacks in Government.  As Program Committee Chair, introduced and activated the nation
al MAP (Monetary Assistance Program) and STACK (Scholarships to Acquire Career Keys) programs.
